About the artist
Brothers Strauss Shi (violin) and TY Zhang (guitar) formed ArcoStrum after meeting as classmates and roommates at The Juilliard School. In 2023 they made history as the first violin-guitar duo to win the Concert Artists Guild Victor Elmaleh Competition in over 70 years. Strauss is a three-time international competition winner; TY is the first and only Chinese classical guitarist to win the Guitar Foundation of America International Concert Artist Competition. Their programs span Baroque masterworks, Chinese traditional music, and progressive rock, and have taken them to Carnegie Hall, Merkin Hall, and stages across Asia, Latin America, and North America.
