About the artists
Grisha Goryachev
Born in St. Petersburg in 1977, Grisha Goryachev began guitar at six under his father's guidance, performed across the Soviet Union from age nine, and was transformed by a 1986 encounter with Paco de Lucía. He completed his Doctorate in Musical Arts at New England Conservatory under Eliot Fisk and is a 2006 Paul & Daisy Soros Fellow.
Virgile Barthe
Born in France in 2003, Virgile Barthe trained at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris. At twenty-two, he became the 2025 Guitar Foundation of America International Competition winner, the most prestigious prize in classical guitar, and previously claimed the Paris Guitar Competition. His refined classical sensibility and exceptional command of the instrument have established him as one of the most exciting young guitarists of his generation.
