About the artist
Born in Beijing in 1977, Xuefei Yang became the first guitarist to enter a Chinese music school and the first Chinese guitarist to achieve international recognition. She studied under Chen Zhi at the Central Conservatoire, where John Williams donated two of his instruments for advanced students in her honour. In 2000, she became the first Chinese guitarist to receive an ABRSM international scholarship, graduating from the Royal Academy of Music with distinction in 2002. Classic FM names her one of the 100 Top Classical Musicians of Our Time; BBC Music Magazine ranks her among the Top Six Guitarists of the Century. Based in London.
